About Us

Sojourner Truth Middle School was established in 1975 as part of three middle schools housed in the William S. Hart Middle Complex. Located at 116 Hamilton Street in East Orange, New Jersey, Truth Middle School embarks on its third year under the Hart Complex restructuring as the sixth grade school. This unique arrangement allows us to effectively utilize resources, implement curriculum, and build on the prior school year's strengths and weaknesses. Students are provided with a plethora of opportunities to succeed not only academically, but socially and mentally. Truth Middle School offers all core subject areas taught by highly qualified teachers but also offers courses revolving around technology, STEM, ELA and Math intervention, world language, art, general music and swimming as well as a Port of Entry program for ELL students.

  • Google Chrome Books and Apple Mac Books are readily available as we have become a 1 to 1 school.

  • The staff of Sojourner Truth Middle School combined offers decades of experience teaching in East Orange and other districts throughout the country.
  • Sojourner Truth Middle School offers extra help and student support after school on a teacher by teacher basis within their respective schedules.
